Dumbing down Washington State

I found this article over at http://www.libertylive.org/blog_main/index.php .  My math skills are also terrible.  How are yours?

The following open letter was signed by 60 members of UW’s math, science and engineering faculty and sent to state legislators on February 26:
“We the undersigned faculty in math, science and engineering at the University of Washington have become increasingly concerned about the declining level of math competency of students entering the university.  Many students arrive with poor mastery of essential mathematical skills, such as algebra, manipulation of fractions, trigonometry, and basic mathematical operations.   Increasing numbers of students are forced to take math remediation courses after admission to the UW.  Over the past decade many of us have lowered the mathematical levels of our courses as math skills have declined.    We believe that it is essential that steps be taken to ensure that Washington State students are provided with world-class mathematics standards, curricula, and instruction.”

  1. I haven’t read that one yet; I’m still trying to finish up the six books I got back in the states. And it just got a new book “The Age of Spiritual Machines” by Ray Kurzweil. All about when computers exceed human intelligence.

More invasions would not surprise me. This guy Fallon and his recent resignation will make war with Iran much easier. And we are now about to add Venezuela to the axis of evil and call it a terrorist state.

Meanwhile the financial system continues to melt down.

Here’s a link to the “war with Iran more likely” article http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=8324

And here’s a quote from the article:

“As Inter Press Service (IPS) reported last May, Fallon was also quoted as saying privately at that time, “There are several of us trying to put the crazies back in the box.” That was an apparent reference to the opposition by the Joint Chiefs of Staff to an aggressive war against Iran.

The crazies he is referring to are the neocons.

  2. I first met Wesley Clark at cheivers air base Belgium. I walked up to him at the taco bell/ Anthony’s pizza that the air base just recently produced. He was slender and slim grey haired with a long black trench coat on. I said, “Hello sir.” With my respect of military bearing and the fact that there were probably five guys around me armed letting him play out his fantasy of mixing in with us normal folk and ordering a slice of pizza. He then turned to me and said, “Hello James” and I was floored.
I then walked up to the Taco bell express and ordered a chulupa. I guess he ordered a slice of pizza or something and then he left and the five guys around him got up and walked away.
About one month later I met this man, a Mexican born American who had a great story to tell, about how he was a ranger first, joined the army, and because of his lingual skills and maybe his looks, real wide jawed, pock marked and a good ASVAP score, became an ranger, did not witness the birth of his son, then did not witness the birth of his daughter and called it quits. The army decided that he was an investment, and sent him to the Marshall school in Garmish Germany. There were other schools and other investments, but this guy was too good to let go. His experience was pretty amazing… for the next two years with the promise of dictating his own life he learned and wrote and understood everything there was to be an Iraqi… not only that but he learned to speak farsi, an Iranian language all the different dialects, he lived on the ground for one year. I doubted him, one night in Belgium while we played poker and drinking good beer and all he did was laugh at me… so of course all the other boys started jabbing away after about ten hoogardens in each of our systems. Anthony was pretty smart, this fat kid that got skinny. Joined the army and was just having a good time hanging out with us and playing poker. I was blind in many ways, all I wanted to do was be a soccer coach to gavin, wake up and go to work. Run in the woods and sweat out all the toxins sort of shit.
Well our good friend said something that changed my mind and started making me think about a bigger picture.
He said. “spillane, what do you think I do? What do you think I did?
I had a full house and took most of his chips at that moment.
Anthony and I laughed and then apparently he thought it was a good time to tell everything that was going on.

“Spillane, we are going to war with Iraq, then Iran… it is going to happen we don’t know how, but they wouldn’t be teaching me all these languages and having me grow beards and be away from my kids and all that shit if they didn’t think it was going to happen.”
I was coaching a junior soccer team at the moment it happened, the planes crashing into the twin towers…
We were at a NATO headquarters and yet nothing happened… I told the kids that I was teaching soccer to. I told them that something big had happened. We left that day to listen to radios to tell us what was happening, and that was all we listened to that night, but couldn’t help but pull Gavin into my arms and tell him it was going to be alright.

  3. good story. put it on your blog. They probably have him bombing markets now to make sure the civil war continues and the population continues to kill eachother. Their plan all along? See P20G / Premtive Proactive Operations Group.

Gold hit $1005 today. Oil is at what? $1.56 buys a Euro. I’m going to turn on Fox and see what creative talking points they will spill today and report back. Will they rub it in? Stocks take a beating! ( and act like they didnt’ tell us to remain calm and stay in the market yesterday ) .. or will they try to damage control…. better yet blame Venezuala and Iran!!! Then they will start talking about more racial issues between Hillary and Obama to make sure we all remember to be predudice.

  4. Reminds me of Boys n the Hood; when Lawrence Fishburn says ” why? Because they want us to kill ourselves ” … I think Fishburn knows how to choose his movies.

    Take the Red Pill James.

  5. Turned on fox; Oreily has two black women on getting into racial religous issues. Must have tuned in too late and missed the economy stuff.
