I’m researching wordpress backup and restore solutions and found this one called backupbuddy. All looks good but does it really work when crap hits the fan… say all my wordpress sites are hacked at once…. what is the restore process look like with my host ( Dreamhost ).
This site http://fileslinger.com/2010/03/21/backupbuddy-the-holy-grail-of-wordpress-backups-is-almost-within-reach/ reviews the restore process to godaddy and says it fails.
I’m not seeing anything positive about that backupbuddy plus their site is confusing ( support forum not open to public, no trial option ) so I’m abandoning that route.
How about BlogVault ( $250 year for $15 sites ) … googling for “blogvault restore to Dreamhost” …. results no good results. .. hmm. This post compares VaultPress to BlogVault … but no info on real world restorations. So I tried the trial… the auto install of the plugin on my blog didn’t work… neither did the manual…. hmmm.. no confidence here.
Having better luck with wp Time Machine

To,
All readers.
I am a user of backup buddy and it's working fine. My web host is DreamHost. I do schedule backup of full and database only backup everyday. Then I download the backup files (compressed) into my PC, then Delete it from my server. I did tried import/migrate options and its working fine. The only problem is that when I do full backup I have to exclude contents folder (where all the images, pdf files etc) because the server doesn't allow it due to too much intense resource that it needed.T his is because of limit and resources limit in Dreamhost.
When I do migration of my wordpress site, I use import option in backup buddy. Then later cut and paste the contents folder from the old location within DreamHost server.
It is working fine. Believe me.
I don't earn any profits by commenting about backup buddy.
