Today I followed these instructions http://wiki.Dreamhost.com/Host_a_subdomain_on_Dreamhost_when_DNS_is_controlled_elsewhere to setup a wordpress blog ( Custom install NOT simple install ) on a subdomain of a site not hosted with Dreamhost.
