Automatically importing RSS feeds as forum posts into simple machines forum on DreamHost

The following has a little bit of information that might take some one time regarding setting up the RSS feed poster plug-in on a simple machines forum hosted at DreamHost.RSS feed poster plug-in: got it working by doing the following:uploading the package just like all of the other modifications.  Enabling the package.Added the XML feed and selected the proper board to post to.Uncheck the "fake Cron job" option.Selected "curl" from the drop-down menu Set up a Cron job in DreamHost control panel./usr/bin/curl -s -o /dev/null http://www.myrl.com/_forums/cronrss.php Working perfectly. Adding images to your blogs is not nearly as easy as it should be.  The current process involves saving images, uploading images, URLs of images, and it could be a lot easier.  Normally when someone wants to add a picture to their weblog they either want a quick "screen capture" of their entire screen or just a part of their screen.  In this case once the screenshot is completed they would just click okay and the URL of the image would now be on their clipboard ready for insertion into your blog editor.  No saving to your desktop, no uploading; that part would be done automatically.For images developed in Photoshop a "save as URL" option would automatically upload and add [...]

Killed San Juan forum already… reborn bigger and better

After a little bit of time horsing around with that San Juan Islands news and headlines forum I discovered the forum software I had chosen ( phpBB ) was difficult to customize and suffered from a dwindling developer base. That means not much innovation happening with the add-in's and new features. So after some research ( a couple hours ) I found the simple machines forum. It had all of the extras that I wanted such as RSS feeds for each board and topic plus numerous cool add-ins that allow you to insert Google advertising, and even revenue share amongst people who are posting to your newsgroup.
