Here are my brief notes on how to switch from Yahoo business e-mail to Gmail applications e-mail.
First of all I had to set up the domain on Dreamhost, when I set up the domain I made sure to use the Gmail e-mail option, and then set out to Gmail administrative account, (if you’re not hosted at Dreamhost the process for setting up a Gmail application administrator account will not be as easy… just google for Google applications to figure it out.) and then waited a couple hours, I was then able to create a new user in the Google applications area. This new user receives a Gmail address, login to this address and set up a pop e-mail accounts under the settings menu, the pop settings are below, once the pop account has been set up Gmail will begin to import your messages from your Yahoo business e-mail account, note: when I set up the pop account Gmail would not let me name the account with the same e-mail address as the current user… it turns out that the name of the pop account doesn’t matter… example: I was trying to import e-mail from my info@mydomain.com address and when I went to set up the pop account it would not let me name the account info@mydomain.com so I just named the account imports@mydomain.com and then I proceeded to enter the pop settings for myinfo@mydomain.com address.
